About Tom Galtress
Hello! I’m Tom.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker #90334
I am originally from Southern California and relocated to Butte County in 2018. I have history working in a variety of fields prior to becoming a clinical counselor including Human Resources, radio broadcasting and several years of after school care for children K-Junior High. I’m also a musician and songwriter and consider myself a spiritual person. I began my Masters’s degree in social work in 2012 where I interned, meeting with aging adults, veterans, and individuals with memory issues in a clinical context. I also interned as a junior high counselor for students as an on-campus clinician. Post graduating I was a clinical therapist treating individuals with addiction as well as a clinical manager supervising addiction counselors for over 3 years. I have been treating teens, adults, and couples at Chico Creek Counseling for over 2 years since leaving the addiction counseling center.
I believe that there are times in our lives where the challenges we face can be overwhelming—we may feel despair or hopelessness, or may discover unmanageable behaviors or emotions. Sometimes these challenges have existed for a long time. However, the decision to seek help has been a hard one to choose. To those reading this, I want to validate the courage it takes to consider facing our challenges; it takes incredible bravery and demonstrates humility to allow someone to join the journey. I consider it a great privilege to be included as a journeying partner, and I take much joy in seeing individuals grow in wellness in all areas of their life. It is my goal to help individuals return from unmanageable to manageable, from despairing to hopeful, and from overwhelmed to peace-filled.
