Samantha Lapp

Hello! I’m Samantha.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #117785

My name is Samantha Lapp and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been a practicing therapist for over eight years, and I love my job! I have worked with many different populations, a diverse age range of clients, and various family systems. I consider myself a strength-based clinician and while my theoretical approach is varied, my belief is that our struggles and our strengths are often related to our values, our attachment styles, and the trauma we have endured. We all have had difficult experiences in our lives and those experiences impact our relationships—with family, partners, friends, our children, and ourselves. Each one of us has the strength and ability to make positive changes in our life but sometimes we need extra support from someone outside our circle who genuinely cares and believes in our individual greatness.

A little about me: when I am not working, I enjoy traveling, cooking, camping, listening to records, eating good food, yoga, crafts, swimming, social gatherings with friends, family, and sharing all those experiences with my daughter Penelope and my partner. My daughter is such a bright light, full of life, love, and laughter. And while we also all enjoy going to Giants games and Shark’s hockey games, I couldn’t tell you the name of a single player but I sure love those crab sandwiches at AT&T park!

My Approach & Values

Most recently, I have been working with children and families as a certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapist. Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) could be for you if you and your child have experienced a trauma, you have concerns about your child’s disruptive behaviors, compliance issues, tantrums, or you want to enhance your relationship with your kids by learning new tools to manage these behaviors. I also have been well trained in Play Therapy, trauma work, sensory processing, and more. While most of my experience involves children and the family system as a whole, I also really enjoy working with individuals and couples. I do not have a preference for clients based on their age, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, or mental health afflictions. I appreciate all people and I will learn from you just as much as I hope you learn through our work together.
