We all have our life stories, some wonderful, some difficult. Chances are, if you’re reading this, you find yourself living a difficult chapter in your story. At times, life can become so challenging that another person is needed to listen and provide support as you navigate through the mire. I want to acknowledge how brave you are to be here, looking for someone to help you with your current struggle. I am in awe of every story I’m told and feel honored when clients trust me with their healing journey. I hope that you will embark on your journey with me!
EXPERIENCE
I absolutely love working with people of all ages, especially couples, families, teens and elders. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples as well as Brainspotting for those who have experienced trauma.
One of my biggest passions is for West African dance and drumming, and I was a Zumba instructor for 7 years. If you are interested, I hope to bring dance and drumming into the counseling room to help you access the expression of feelings I believe are difficult to touch with words.
For part of my MFT training, I was fortunate enough to work with people who identify as LGBTQ+ at Stonewall Alliance. During my training, I also had the privilege of supporting a diverse number of individuals at Butte College.
Prior to coming on board with this amazing team here at Chico Creek Counseling, I was an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice agency in Yuba City where I worked with people from the ages of 4 to 84, as well as couples and families.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Child Welfare/Residential Treatment from California State University, Chico in 1984. Thirty-five years later, I returned, full circle, to receive my Master of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.
ABOUT ME
Although I was raised in Southern California, I came to Chico for college in 1981. I left Chico for short periods of time, but always came back. I raised my 30-year-old son here and am proud of him beyond words. I have a very supportive family as well as a doggy, Annabelle, and a kitty, Sarah, who give me lots of love. In my spare time, I love hiking and biking on the many roads and trails in our beautiful area.
