About Nancy Neidhardt

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde

Hello! I’m Nancy.

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #114936

My biggest strength as a counselor is that I am in awe with each and every life story I am told, and feel honored when clients trust me with their healing journey. I hope you will embark on your journey with me!

Although I was raised in Southern California, I came to Chico for college in 1981. I left Chico for short periods of time but always came back. I raised my 31-year-old son here and am proud of him beyond words. I am very grateful to have a very supportive family and loving family. In my spare time, I love hiking and biking on the many roads and trails in our beautiful area as well as West African Dance and Drumming.

My Approach & Values

I absolutely love working with people of all ages, especially elders, families, and couples. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples as well as Brainspotting and Narrative Therapy.

For part of my MFT training, I was fortunate enough to work with people who identify as LGBTQ+ at Stonewall Alliance. During my training, I also had the privilege of supporting a diverse number of individuals at Butte College. Prior to coming on board with this amazing team here at Chico Creek Counseling, I was an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice agency in Yuba City where I worked with people from the ages of 4 to 84, as well as couples and families.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Child Welfare/Residential Treatment from California State University, Chico in 1984. Thirty-five years later, I returned, full circle, to receive my Master of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.
