Hello! I’m Joe.

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #114263

Life can be overwhelming. Therapy can help. Together we can explore your strengths, beliefs, commitments, and the resources that can help you gain influence over the problems in your life. I believe life can be better for you and those you care about. I look forward to meeting you and being a caring nonjudgmental help during this time. I am a calm and caring companion on your journey. I have traveled enough along my own path to often find common ground. I love nothing more than discovering something new and wonderful, about myself and others. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – always endeavoring to find the approach best suited to my client’s needs. Therapy can be very short-term, a longer-term exploration, or anything in between. We will work together to define your goals. I work with individuals, couples, families, and children (mostly teens) from all walks of life, those struggling with past traumas, relational issues, life transitions – and anyone simply seeking support unraveling difficult thoughts and emotions. Outside of counseling, I am active in the lives of my children and grandchildren. I enjoy reading, music, and the outdoors. Chico is my hometown

My Approach & Values

I welcome clients from all walks of life. I mostly work with adults, some children (mostly teens). Many of my clients have been navigating gender considerations, non-traditional relationships, and sexuality. I work with clients experiencing psychosis and other mental health concerns. I work with a limited number of couples, utilizing a positive communication-based approach and exploration of family of origin patterns. Occasionally I will work with families to explore concerns with parenting – often referencing the Nurtured Heart Approach. I also work with older clients experiencing concerns with health and aging. My ideal client is anyone willing to explore together possibilities for positive change.
