Hello! I’m Dan.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker #7153

I am an eternal optimist and believe strongly in the practice of training clients to empower themselves through mindfulness practices and trauma processing. My work includes coaching distress tolerance skills, emotional regulation skills, and developing self-care regimens.

Goal setting is an important component of therapy, so we work together to establish therapeutic goals that are reasonable and attainable. I regularly engage with my clients in creating a balance between sessions that follow the client’s direction and those that will need some therapist “push” to confront painful or controversial issues.

I am familiar with and frequently encourage the use of community resources, including psychiatry, support groups, personal training programs, and avenues for exercise and fun. My focus will often include working to assist clients in finding a balance between work, home, school, family, socialization, and physical health.

My wife and I have been married since 1985. We raised six children, and are currently raising one of our grandsons. I have coached numerous Little League and Jr. Giants baseball teams and also volunteer at Safe Space Winter Shelter for the homeless. I contribute to a multitude of charitable and community service organizations, exercise daily, and embrace a healthy eating lifestyle.

My Approach & Values

I worked for 24 years with children and families in the foster care and adoption systems, and have been a mental health clinician since 2007. I have experience working in both the county mental health system and with a private group therapy agency. I joined Chico Creek Counseling in 2019.

My specialized training has included Suicide Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I work best with adults, seniors, and couples of all ages and genders. Most of my clients experience Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment and Mood Disorders, BPD, Grief and Loss, PTSD, or marriage and communication issues.
