About Abbie Porter

“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” -Dr. Maya Angelou

Hello! I’m Abbie.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #121274

I am a person-centered, strengths-based therapist so I collaborate with my client to tailor therapy to fit what each of them is looking for based on their individual needs. I pull from my toolbox each modality I have been trained in to help my clients meet their goals. I have been working as a therapist since 2017 and I began my journey in community mental health at a clinic in Southern California where I worked primarily with adults that struggled with mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and psychotic disorders. In 2019, I came to Chico Creek Counseling where I expanded my experience to working with children, adolescents, and couples.

Outside of counseling, my hobbies are hiking, music, making and trying vegan food, swimming, running, spending time with my loved ones, and traveling.

My Approach & Values

I enjoy working with individuals of all ages. I am especially experienced in working with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and trauma-related disorders. I am also trained in EMDR therapy.
